Seacoast School of Technology
Digital Communications
Considered SST's "art class for the next generation," Digital Communications is a series of four semester courses which can be taken in sequence (recommended), or as stand-alone classes.

First-Year Courses
  • Introduction to Computer Graphics (offered semester 1) is an inquiry into the concepts of good design.  Backed with a foundation in the fine arts, students utilize Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and other computer programs to express their creativity and get their ideas on paper.

  • 3-D Animation (offered semester 2) teaches students how to take traditional two-dimensional artwork and transform it into moving, realistic three-dimensional models.  Computer programs used include Flash, Bryce and 3ds Max.

Second-Year Courses
  • Web Design (offered semester 1) teaches students to design their own web pages using HTML and XHTML.  Students learn best practices in designing for the web and create multiple web pages on topics of personal interest.

  • Video Production (offered semester 2) offers students the opportunity to learn how to operate all of the equipment of a video production studio.  Students film, edit and produce videos for both personal and commercial purposes.

Students in Digital Communications participate in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), an organization that provides leadership and other professional opportunities, as well as the chance to compete on both the local and national level.

College credit is available in each of the four Digital Communications courses through Running Start, and students who complete the entire sequence of courses can graduate with 12 credits of transferable post-secondary credits.
