SST TO HOLD FIRST ALUMNI MEETING

The Seacoast School of Technology (SST) will hold its first Alumni Meeting on Wednesday, January 8, 2003 at 5:30 PM at the Seacoast School of Technology Culinary Arts Dining Room. Principal Nancy Pierce has called this meeting to explore the possibility of forming an Alumni Association, conducting reunions in the future, and providing a resource bank of SST graduates for current students. She has talked with a number of alumni over the last few years who have expressed an interest in activating this group. The SST staff has stayed in touch with many of its graduates over the years, and is pleased to welcome its most recent graduates back to school for visits. However, many students graduated over twenty years ago whose input and experience would be valuable - but whose whereabouts are unknown.

SST seeks to form an association also to provide a link to current students. All current SST students are expected to develop portfolios and participate in job shadow, internship, or coop experiences as part of their SST program. The experiences students gain in the real world enhance the development of their career plan and gives focus to their work at SST and in college or work after they graduate. Instructors like to invite alumni to be guest speakers in their classes and participate in other all school activities like the Business Roundtable and Networking Lunches, which provide opportunities for business representatives to talk with students directly about their career paths and their work.
