FCCLA State Spring Conference 2010
Nineteen students from the SST Chapter attended the annual FCCLA State Spring Conference at The Grand Summit in
Bartlett, NH on April 8 and 9. Taylor Mabardy, Brittaney Smith, Kylie Grenier and Lyndsey Vincello
served as coordinators for STAR events. Kaitlin Wheeler was the chapter’s voting delegate.
The chapter won two membership awards, one for having the largest FCCLA chapter and the other for 100% chapter participation.
The chapter also won the Youth At Its Best award. This award is voted on by chapter advisors, members and employees of the hotel
for the chapter who exemplifies the highest level of professionalism during the conference. This is the second time the chapter
has been so honored.
Celia Nicholson conducted a hands-on session titled Paper Bag Puppets, which fit with this year’s FCCLA
theme, -- Up, Up and Away with FCCLA.
SST students competed in several STAR events. In Chapter Showcase Manual, Megan Cargill (EXE), Miranda Ignoto (EXE)
and Katie Morrisette (EXE) won first place and a gold medal and qualified for national competition in Chicago in July.
Rebecca Charest and Bethany Winget (EXE) earned a silver medal and first place and qualified for national competition.
Amanda Flodstrom (EXE) and Ashley Johansson (EPP) won first place and a silver medal for Interpersonal Communications and
qualified for national competition.
Bailey Albert (WIN) earned a silver medal and second place for in Early Childhood event.
Brandon Artus (NEW) Connor Martel (EXE) and Kaitlin Wheeler (EXE) earned a silver medal and second place in Focus on Children.
Joslyn Camp (EXE) Christi Hammon (EXE) and Alyssa Pouliott (EXE) earned a bronze medal for State Display.
