The Spring 2007 State Competition Results
Three SST students took top honors in the annual SkillsUSA competitions
held throughout the state. In Building Construction Technology, Christopher
Bolduc, Exeter, placed 1st in the state and also took top honors in the written
exam. SST’s Jason Martel, Exeter, placed 2nd, while Jeff Belanger, Sanborn,
finished 5th.
The Automotive Technology competition saw two SST students
honored. Senior Erik Woss, Exeter, was awarded the silver medal for 2nd Place
in the state, while classmate Jeff Plue, Exeter, took home the 3rd Place bronze
medal.
In Culinary Arts, SST was awarded the top three honors in the Food &
Beverage Service event. Cristina Barbaresi, Newmarket, placed 1st in the state,
with classmates Jaime Field, Winnacunnet, and Janelle Jordan, Exeter, placing
2nd and 3rd respectively. In the Baking event, Caitlin Johnson, Newmarket, took
home 2nd place honors. In the Hot Foods competition, Cindi Cooke, Exeter,
placed 6th, with Louise Long, Newmarket, placing 9th. SST’s third first place
winner was Andrew Tompkins from Winnacunnet. Andrew placed 1st statewide
in the SkillsUSA Job Skills Demonstration event. In Job Interview, Caitlin
Demers from Sanborn Regional placed 2nd and earned a silver medal.
In Welding Technology, SST students Corey Sadler, Epping, and Michael Ordway,
Epping placed 3rd and 9th respectively. Mr. Bolduc, Ms. Barbaresi, and Mr.
Tompkins are now eligible to attend the SkillsUSA National Competition to be
held in Kansas City, Missouri in June.
SST SkillsUSA teacher/advisors are
Robert Nienhouse and Gerry Sears, Automotive Service Technology, Jonathan
Theberge, Welding, Ben Gerkin, Building Construction Technology and James
Collins, Culinary Arts. SkillsUSA has embraced the slogan “Champions at
Work” and is a national partnership of students, teachers, and industry
professionals working together to ensure that America has a high performance
workforce.
