Culinary Arts Student

Explore Your Interests!

Explore the the modern, fast-paced Hospitality industry and a career in Culinary Arts. Through preparing Regional American Cuisine, students will learn about food fundamentals, knife skills, stocks, sauces, breads, food presentation, guest relations, and dining room procedures. Second year students focus on International Cuisine, food and labor costs, purchasing, management, catering, menu creation and design, and advanced serving. Students will assist in the operation of SST's restaurant - " Julia's ". Students will be given the opportunity to join the American Culinary Federation and compete in SkillsUSA - VICA. Outstanding second year students will participate in industry internships.

SkillsUSA at SST

The students enrolled in this class are encouraged to join the SST Chapter of SkillsUSA, a national CTSO that sponsors local, state and national competitions in which students demonstrate occupational and leadership skills; as well as social and community service activities.
