Culinary Arts students participate in two businesses - a restaurant open to the public and a catering business. Students learn the basics of commercial baking, garde manger, cooking techniques, presentation and service. Extensive training is also provided in food safety, personal hygiene and kitchen safety. SST’s NEW Culinary Arts teaching kitchen is among the best in the state and includes all of the same stations and equipment found in any large commercial restaurant. Students are members of SkillsUSA and compete locally and nationally, as they build their leadership and professional skills. College credit through Project Running Start is offered and many students continue their education at highly respected culinary arts colleges.
