The preschool is named to honor the memory of Karen Wright, an active school volunteer and caring wife and mother.

"The name is in celebration of the life of a mother who lives in all of us." Carla Ranks

"When I think of committed parents, I think of Karen Wright." Stacey Jordan

The Wright Start Preschool at SST

Karen Wright

The preschool is the laboratory component of the Early Childhood Education program at SST. We welcome young children between the ages of three and six years. Our program includes two, two and one-half hour sessions per day, four days per week. The morning session hours are 8:00am-10:30am and the afternoon session are 11:30am-2:00pm.

Enrollment for the Sept.2008-09 school year is now closed. We are no longer accepting applications for the 08-09 school year.

The curriculum focuses on enhancing the development of the whole child - the physical, social, emotional, intellectual, and creative self. We believe play is vital to the young child's development. Through meaningful play, the child is able to experiment, interact, and discover that learning is fun. Our curriculum stresses individual worth, cooperative learning, and the celebration of diversity.

The school is staffed with Certified Preschool Teachers, the Early Childhood Education Teacher, and the high-school students from the ECE classes. These students, working as Teacher Assistants, are able to gain the skills, attitude, and knowledge required for successful entry into the field of early childhood education.
